Important details to know before booking your custom order.
Ordering, Payment & Changes
PRICE ADJUSTMENTS: Once you submit the initial 50% downpayment, your price is locked! However, costs may not be exactly the same for future orders. We always want to source the highest quality ingredients for the best possible product. Because ingredient cost dictates price, pricing for repeat orders may be different.
RUSH ORDERS: We strive to accommodate every request with care and precision. While we understand that sometimes life calls for a sweet treat on short notice, we cannot guarantee the fulfillment of all last-minute orders. For orders placed with a turnaround time of less than 7 days, we will do our absolute best to meet your needs, though they will be subject to a rush fee. Rush fees vary based on how quickly you need your order, starting at a minimum of $20, and typically ranging from 25% to 50% of the grand total. This ensures we can prioritize your order amidst existing commitments without sacrificing quality.
CHANGE CUT OFF: Order changes can be made up until 7 days prior to the pickup date. Please email change requests to BakedByBostik@gmail.com. If you reach out less than a week before pickup, all change requests will be under consideration, and a small fee will apply.
NO GHOSTS PLEASE: We love Halloween, but we don't like ghosting. To get your order just right, please reply to our messages within 24 hours; otherwise, we may just have to wing it. If you have questions for us, please give us 12-24 hours to send you a reply.
Cancellations & Refunds
REFUNDS: Your 50% deposit is non-refundable. Given the resources invested to plan, source, and initiate your order, we cannot accommodate refunds. In addition, each baked item is carefully and securely packaged prior to and through delivery/pickup. Therefore, we are not responsible for damaged goods after they have been picked up or delivered.
RESCHEDULING & COVID CARE: We strive to accommodate our clients' needs and ensure their special occasions are celebrated with the perfect custom cake or set of cookies. We know you can't always control when life happens or when you come in contact with COVID, but to help us provide the best service, please review our rescheduling policy:
- Custom Cakes & Cupcakes: We require at least 48 hours notice prior to the original pickup date. Rescheduling is subject to availability. A rescheduling fee of 50% may apply if the new pickup date is within 7 days of the original pickup date (this covers administrative and operational costs). If your new date requires adjustments to the design or flavors, we will discuss modifications with you. Custom cakes are typically non-refundable after production has started.
- Custom Cookies: We can freeze your cookies for 2 weeks so you can stay home and rest, or reschedule your event! Please notify us at least 7 days prior to your pickup time.

Pickup, Delivery & Shipping
PICKUP DATES & TIMES: Pickup dates and times are set when you place your order and will be scheduled to accommodate both parties. A 30-minute buffer is allowed for pickups. If you anticipate being outside your scheduled pickup window or the 30-minute buffer, please contact us immediately. Failure to notify us of changes to your pickup time may result in an additional fee due to scheduling conflicts.
NO SHOW = NO SWEETS: If you need to reschedule your order pickup day and/or time, please reach out via email to BakedByBostik@gmail.com. Unfortunately, not showing up to the agreed-upon pickup time forfeits your order. Take heart, we'll donate your treats to a worthy cause!
DELIVERY: We're delighted to offer delivery services! Please note that delivery comes with a fee, which varies depending on the distance from our bakery and the availability of our delivery slots. To receive an accurate delivery quote, simply provide us with your address.
INCLEMENT WEATHER: Living in the Midwest, inclement weather can impact travel and safety. If you are picking up your order from my home: please exercise caution and plan your travel time accordingly. My driveway is pitched and can be slick during winter months. Allow extra time to reach my house safely.
SHIPPING (Cookies Only - Within Illinois): We do our best to package cookies for a potentially rough ride, but broken cookies are a possibility and a non-refundable risk you take when placing a shipped order. Once tracking information is provided, claims for lost orders can be placed with USPS. (Please note: Custom cakes and delicate cupcakes are strictly pickup/delivery only).
Design Expectations & Inspiration
INSPIRATION: Thanks for sharing those inspirational pictures! They're just that—inspiring. Your cookies, cupcakes, or cakes may not be perfect replicas, but we'll try to keep it close!
COPYCATS: Copyrighted images are protected and we cannot identically replicate those baked goods. We can make a similar color palette though, so let's talk!
PICTURES ARE WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS: But they are not always accurate. Colors and lighting in photos may be slightly different than what you end up with. Also, cakes and cookies in photos may not be true to size.
PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY: We create replicas of client orders to photograph. If you do not want your cake or cookies in the spotlight, please let us know at the time you place your order.
IT'S ALL YOURS NOW: Once you pick up your order, what happens to your treats is all on you. Keep them safe and cool! Please strictly follow the instructions on your cake or cookie care sheet.
Allergies & Food Safety
COTTAGE FOOD LAW AND FOOD SAFETY: Our products are made in a home kitchen not inspected by the FDA. Our kitchen is not nut-free, egg-free, dairy-free, or gluten-free.
- Ingredients: We generally use a standard base recipe for our treats. Our cookie recipe typically contains flour, powdered sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla, and meringue powder. Dyes used may include, but are not limited to, Red 40, Red 3, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Blue 1 & Blue 2.
- Allergens: Please be aware that our baked goods contain dairy, eggs, and wheat. Our treats DO NOT contain nut products; however, they may come into contact with nuts or other allergens due to shared equipment and preparation areas. While we strive to prevent cross-contamination, our kitchen handles a variety of ingredients, and traces of allergens may be present.
- Liability: You agree to notify your guests of this risk for any allergic reactions. We are not responsible for any allergic reactions to guests consuming the product. If you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please inform us at the time of ordering. We will do our best to accommodate your needs but cannot guarantee complete allergen-free products.
